Reasons For Eye Twitching

Involuntary eye twitching may also be called "eye spasms" or "blinking disorder"

There are a variety of reasons for eye twitching, which is also known as invoountary eye twitching, eye spasms or blinking disorder. Regardless of what you call it, eye twitching is an involuntary and sometimes repetitive movement of the eyelid.

Reasons for eye twitching may include:

  • injury or irritation of the cornea.
  • fatigue, lack of sleep, or general weariness.
  • neurological problems
  • family history or heredity (rare)
  • staring at something for too long
  • eye strain
  • anxiety, nervousness and stress

Eye twitching treatments In most cases, the best treatment for eye twitching is to remove the cause. Generally that means rest, relaxation, and stress relief. here's no common or accepted medical procedure that cures chronic eye twitching.

Though it can be annoying, eye twitching is generally not serious. In some cases, however, the repeated twitching and blinking can produces conditions like chronic irritation. In rare cases, eye twitching can lead to vision problems. The amount of eye twitching that occurs can vary from one day to another.
